Media Center

Welcome To The M. L. King Media Center,

I am so excited that your child will be learning and exploring with me this year in the media center. The most important activity to prepare your child to be a successful reader is reading aloud together.  With your help, your child can begin a lifelong relationship with the printed word and gain an invaluable appreciation for reading and literacy.

Your child will come to the media center with his/her class and individually to check out books. The media center is open from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm every day.
Kindergarten and 1st grade students check out one book at a time.
All 2nd-5th grade students check out 2 books at a time.
Students may keep the books for 1 week.
There are no fines for overdue books, but overdue books must be returned in order to check out another one.
If your child has a lost or damaged book, please let me know as soon as possible. Damaged books can sometimes be repaired. If a book is not repairable or is lost, then the student will be charged for the replacement cost of the book. No other books will be checked out until payment has been received. Books that are not paid for by the end of the school year will cause a hold to be placed on the student’s report card.

Thank you so much for helping us take care of our media center books at M. L. King!

We want our students to enjoy coming to the media center and look forward to sharing many wonderful stories with them.
