Meet Mrs. Schmekia Tate, Professional School Counselor

 Mrs. Tate has been a School Counselor since 2014 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School.  She attained her Bachelor's of Science degree from Georgia Southern University in Business Education.  Then she went on to earn her Master's of Education in School Guidance and Counseling from the University of West Alabama.  Later, Mrs. Tate attained her Specialist of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.  Mrs. Tate became a school counselor because she has a passion to help young people set, manifest, and achieve their life goals.  During her leisure, her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her family.  She is the doting wife and loving mother of three little girls!

Mrs. King is joining the Husky family as the new school counselor serving Pre-K - 2nd grade. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Columbus State University and her Master's Degree in School Counseling from National University in San Diego, California. Mrs. King became a school counselor because she has the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of individual students in all areas of their growth and development. She also wants to help students learn how to believe in themselves and set goals for their futures. In her free time, Mrs. King enjoys spending time with her husband and son, doing community service with her sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha, exercising, and thrift shopping.
